It's a BIG WORLD out there...

...and it's been going on for a very long time!

When I think about that, I can't help but wonder how anyone could doubt that this world came to be in any other way than by divine design. Helloooo!

Another thing I can't help but wonder when contemplating the vastness of it all is how on earth any of us can ever have a problem with pride! I mean, come on! It's so big and we're so small...and God is so awesome!

As I research the genealogy of our family, I am aware of all of these things and more...

I'm amazed at how connected we all are.

I'm amazed at how quickly things have changed in such a relatively short amount of time.

I'm amazed at how I've gone through most of my life with no interest in my roots or my heritage.

I'm amazed that I can think the world is vast and small at the same time. Case in point: Since I started doing genealogy, I've discovered more Davis ancestors in my husband's line than mine...and this is significant because neither of us even knew that name was even in his line. Add to that the fact that many of them lived right and died right here in Missouri where we just moved, even right in the area we live in! One of the first things I learned when starting to research my husband's genealogy was that his grandfather was born in MO. After we bought our property, we learned that the county he was born in was next door to our county.

See? It's so big...and yet so small that both of us have many ancestors in this state and there's a good chance that we could be related to people we've already met. Another case in point: Since moving here, we've gone to a chiropractor whose last name is Davis. Of course, at that time, we thought Davis was only in my family line and they were all up in the Columbia, MO area.

So, how many people that I meet could I be related to? I don't know except I'm sure of one thing...we all descended from Adam and Eve and Noah, too. So, howdy cousin! ; )
